ForGood.Tech is delighted to announce the promotion of Lauren James to Learning & Resource Manager. After almost two years with the business, Lauren is stepping into a newly created role designed to strengthen learning and development, improve onboarding, support career progression and ensure the business has the right skills in place to meet future demand.

The role reflects ForGood.Tech’s continued investment in its people and its ambition to create an environment where employees can grow, develop and build rewarding careers.

A Journey Built on Learning

Lauren James joined ForGood.Tech almost two years ago as part of the Managed Services team, where she developed a strong understanding of the business, its customers and its long-term vision. During that time, she built strong relationships across the organisation and gained valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing both employees and customers.

Her time in Managed Services provided valuable experience and laid the foundations for this next step in her career.

“I learnt a lot during my time there about our business, our customers and our goals here.”
The newly created role is a natural fit for Lauren, whose professional background is in learning and development. By combining employee development with resource planning, the position will help ensure ForGood.Tech continues to invest in its people while supporting future growth.

What Does a Learning & Resource Manager Do?

Lauren’s new role combines learning and development with resource and capacity planning, helping ensure the business has the right people, with the right skills, available at the right time.

Working closely with managers and project teams, her responsibilities include identifying skills gaps, coordinating training, supporting career development and aligning workforce capability with future business needs.

For Lauren, the role centres around helping people feel confident in their jobs while ensuring ForGood.Tech continues to provide excellent service to its customers.

“I want people to feel supported in their career, knowing what training is available to help them feel more confident in their role and support their career progression.”
Lauren sees the role as bringing together three important areas: developing people in their current roles, supporting their long-term career ambitions, and ensuring ForGood.Tech can continue providing the highest standards of training and expertise to customers.

Creating a Better Experience for New Starters

One of Lauren’s key priorities is improving induction and onboarding.

She wants every new employee to benefit from a structured and supportive introduction to both the business and their role.

“I want new starters to have a clear induction. I want this to have two parts to it – a company induction where they learn about us and what we do, and then a role-specific induction which I’ll support managers with.

The aim is to ensure new colleagues have the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed from day one.

By working closely with managers, Lauren hopes to create a consistent onboarding experience that equips people to thrive in their roles and feel part of the business from the very beginning.

Supporting Career Development

Alongside onboarding, Lauren is passionate about helping existing employees explore their future career ambitions.

She believes development starts by understanding where someone wants to go and what support they need to get there.

“Think about your ambitions and what you want out of your career, then I’m more than happy to have a chat with anyone who wants to discuss this. Whether you know your goals already or need to talk through your options, I’m here to support people in any way I can.”

Her priorities over the next 6-12 months include:

  • Strengthening induction and onboarding programmes
  • Developing clearer career pathways
  • Having regular career conversations with employees
  • Making better use of skills and resources across the business
  • Reviewing and progressing employee training requests

Why Learning and Development Matters

Learning and development plays a vital role in a technology-focused organisation.

Whether gaining certifications, developing new skills or building confidence in a role, continuous learning helps both employees and customers benefit from the latest knowledge and expertise.

“People need to feel confident and supported in their role to succeed. They need to know they’re being provided with the right tools to develop.”
ForGood.Tech already supports development through Microsoft certifications, partnerships with learning providers, leadership training, accessible learning platforms and role-specific development programmes.
The organisation is also investing in initiatives such as Companial-accredited learning opportunities, eLoomi learning resources and enhanced onboarding content to support employees at every stage of their career.

Investing in the Future of Our People

ForGood.Tech’s commitment to learning and development has been driven by the People team, led by Sally Hart. Following a review of employee development across the business, Sally recognised the need for a dedicated role to support learning, career growth and workforce planning.

For Sally, Lauren was the natural choice.

“Lauren had the experience we needed, but she also has a genuine passion for helping people develop. She cares about making sure people have the right training, the right skills and the right support to do their jobs well.”
Sally believes one of Lauren’s greatest strengths is her people-first approach.
“When you talk to Lauren, she has such a passion for seeing people equipped, getting the right training and really being supported to do their job.”
The role is also unique because it combines learning and development with resource planning, creating a more proactive approach to workforce development.
“It allows us to look ahead strategically, understand what skills we’re going to need, what skills we already have and how we can help people develop before those future needs arise.”

As ForGood.Tech continues to grow, Sally sees the role playing a key part in strengthening career development, supporting future apprentices, developing internal expertise and helping the organisation become an employer of choice.

More Than Just Promotion

One of the key messages both Lauren and Sally want employees to understand is that development doesn’t always mean moving up the ladder.

Growth can also mean building new skills, contributing to innovation projects, learning from colleagues, gaining certifications and broadening experience across the business.

As ForGood.Tech continues to evolve, so too will the opportunities available for employees to develop in ways that align with their individual goals and interests.

This approach reflects a wider belief that career development should be personal, meaningful and aligned with each individual’s ambitions, rather than being focused solely on promotion.

Putting People First

When asked about her proudest achievement at ForGood.Tech so far, Lauren’s answer wasn’t about a project or a promotion.

It was about the relationships she has built.

For Lauren, people have always been at the centre of everything she does.

“People are my biggest priority. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that taking the time to listen, understand what drives people and support them through their challenges makes a huge difference. When people feel valued and supported, they’re more confident, more engaged and ultimately do their best work.”

That people-first mindset sits at the heart of her vision for learning and development and is one of the key reasons she is so well suited to the role.

Looking Ahead

The creation of the Learning & Resource Manager role marks another step in ForGood.Tech’s ongoing investment in its people.

With a focus on stronger onboarding, clearer career pathways, enhanced learning opportunities and a culture that encourages growth, the long-term goal is simple: help employees reach their full potential while continuing to deliver outstanding outcomes for customers and the charities they support.

When asked to describe the future of learning and development at ForGood.Tech in just three words, Lauren didn’t hesitate:

“Clear, personalised and impactful.”

Clear because people should easily understand the opportunities available to them. Personalised because everyone’s role and career ambitions are different. Impactful because learning should make a real difference to confidence, performance and the value delivered to customers.

With Lauren now leading this area, that future is already taking shape.
